Creating an empowering identity for Anti-Bullying Week 2016

Following on from the success of last year's campaign, we're proud to have created the 'Power For Good' identity for this year's Anti-Bullying Week.


Today marks the close of another successful Anti-Bullying Week. This year's campaign has a strong focus on empowering and encouraging everyone from pupils to parents and teachers to use their 'power' and influence to stop bullying. The statistics are worrying, with 46% of children and young people having experienced bullying (both on and offline) at some point in their lives, so it was important to create a strong identity that encouraged people to get involved.

We all have the power to make a difference

The key message for this year's Anti-Bullying Week is simple – let's use our power for good! The campaign identity features a bright and energetic, blue and yellow colour scheme along with a powerful lightening bolt/upward facing arrow encouraging positive action. To accompany the logo we also created posters and stickers for schools to use to promote the week long event. Reminiscent of retro superheroes, the campaign identity empowers everyone with the idea that they can be a hero and help defeat bullying.

#powerforgood

During the first day of Anti-Bullying week the hashtag #powerforgood was trending at number 1 on Twitter and remained in the top 5 during the week. From cakes and wristbands to school assemblies the branding was used extensively throughout the week.

This year saw the introduction of an awards scheme for pupils to nominate a member of teaching staff who has used their power to make a real difference to student welfare when it comes to bullying. Unveiled at the launch event, which we were proud to attend, in the Houses of Parliament's State Rooms, the awards accompanied an evening of inspirational talks from pupils overcoming bullying, sponsors SafeToNet and the Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation as well as touching tributes to Jo Cox MP.
